Who we are
Science Snitch is operated by Science Snitch LLC, a Wyoming (USA) company.
"Science Snitch," "we," "us," and "our" mean Science Snitch LLC. "You" means the person using the site, subscribing to the newsletter, or buying a paid membership.
By using the site, subscribing, or purchasing membership, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
What Science Snitch is
Science Snitch publishes independent journalism, analysis, and commentary about food, nutrition, fitness, and consumer health - including ingredient analysis, scientific research, product regulation across countries, and the claims made by the people and companies behind these products.
The free newsletter is available to subscribers who confirm their email address.
Paid membership is optional. It supports the work and may include members-only editions or other member benefits described at checkout.
Science Snitch is written for adults. You must be at least 16 to subscribe to the newsletter and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a paid membership.
Newsletter
The newsletter uses double opt-in. You are not added until you confirm your email address.
Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending newsletter emails to that address.
Paid membership and billing
Paid membership renews automatically unless you cancel.
Before you pay, the checkout flow shows the price, billing interval, and renewal terms. Payment is handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.
For yearly plans, we email you a reminder before the renewal date, with the amount and a cancellation link.
You are responsible for keeping your payment and email information current so you can receive notices and manage your membership.
Cancellation
You can cancel paid membership anytime through the billing portal or by contacting us.
When you cancel, billing stops at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep access until that period ends. Cancel any time before your renewal date and you will not be charged again.
Cancelling never requires a call, a chat with a bot, haggling, or an exit survey.
Unsubscribing vs cancelling
Unsubscribing from email and cancelling paid membership are separate actions.
That is intentional. Email apps and mailbox providers can sometimes trigger unsubscribe actions automatically. We do not want an accidental email-client action to cancel something you paid for.
If you unsubscribe while you have an active paid membership, we show you a clear way to manage or cancel billing too. We do not want anyone paying for editions they no longer want to receive.
Refunds
If something went wrong - accidental renewal, duplicate payment, wrong plan, technical issue, or a membership that simply was not what you expected - contact us.
Our default posture is to be fair, not to trap people. Because members-only editions may be delivered as they are published, refunds are handled case by case unless a refund window applies - the cooling-off right below, or a specific window shown at checkout.
If you live in the EU, UK, or another place with a legal cooling-off period: you can withdraw within 14 days of starting a paid membership and get a full refund. This applies to your first payment. If a renewal charged you and you did not want it, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we refund it. Members-only content may be delivered right away, but if you still change your mind within the window, we refund you - we would rather refund than argue.
Nothing in these Terms takes away any mandatory refund or consumer rights you have where you live.
Your submissions
If you send us questions, survey answers, tips, corrections, comments, or other content, you give us permission to read, edit, summarize, quote, anonymize, and publish it as part of Science Snitch, including in members-only editions.
Please do not send confidential information, trade secrets, private medical details, financial details, government IDs, or personal data about someone else unless you have the right to share it and it is necessary.
We may decline, edit, or remove submissions for any reason.
Corrections and complaints about content
If you believe something we published is wrong, contact us and explain the issue clearly.
We review correction requests in good faith and correct substantiated errors.
Acceptable use

Intellectual property

You may read and use the content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, sell, scrape, or redistribute paid or members-only content without permission.
Informational content, not professional advice
Science Snitch publishes journalism and commentary. It is not medical, legal, nutritional, financial, or professional advice.
You should not rely on it as a substitute for qualified professional advice where that matters.
Changes to the service
We may change the site, newsletter, membership tiers, pricing, features, or publishing schedule.
If a change materially affects paid members, we will try to give reasonable notice and a chance to cancel before the change applies. If a material change hurts your paid membership and you cancel because of it, we refund the unused part of what you paid.
Account and membership termination
You may cancel paid membership at any time.
We may suspend or end access if you materially breach these Terms, abuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, misuse paid content, or create legal or security risk.
Liability
We try to run Science Snitch carefully, but the service is provided as is and as available. We do not make promises beyond what these Terms say, and we disclaim implied warranties to the extent the law allows.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses caused by third-party outages, email-provider decisions, payment-provider issues, or internet infrastructure failures.
Where the law allows a liability cap, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Wyoming, USA, except where mandatory consumer law gives you rights that cannot be waived.
Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve it directly.
Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
For minor changes, we update the date above. For material changes affecting paid membership, we will give reasonable notice.
If you continue using the service after the updated Terms take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
If part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
